19th Century Chinese Twelve-Leaf Screen

A 19th century Chinese export black and gilt lacquer twelve-leaf screen. Depicting a vista of palace life, with landscape vignettes to the borders, the reverse decorated with butterflies, dragonflies and peonies. According to previous Christie’s auction catalogue the provenance dates from the descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria, infant of Spain 1884-1958. Each leaf measures H264 x W50 x D3cm.
