19th Century Chinese Twelve-Leaf Screen

A 19th century Chinese export black and gilt lacquer twelve-leaf screen. Depicting a vista of palace life, with landscape vignettes to the borders, the reverse decorated with butterflies, dragonflies and peonies. According to a previous Christie’s auction catalogue the provenance dates from the descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria, Infante of Spain 1884-1958. Each leaf measures H264 x W50 x D3cm.
